Herb Garden Planter from a Thrifted Shelf

Shelves are an easy find at the thrift store...

so I wanted to challenge myself to turn one into something else. Recently into cooking, a decided a simple herb garden planter would suffice. You could take it up a notch and paint it or add a pattern.

Step 1

Draw the circles you want to cut out. You will want them to be slightly smaller than the top side so the majority of the pot sits through the bottom.

Step 2

Using a Dremel 4000 with a cutting attachment, trace your holes into the wood. I don’t always follow my own advice, but highly recommend clamping the shelf down while doing this.

Step 3

Switch to the sanding attachment and sand out any rough edges. Secure to the wall and c’est fin!
