Alice in Wonderland

I started a series of doing a character of Alice in Wonderland every Halloween for six years. When I ended with Alice, I decided to focus on making “a scene” of her as she grows too large for the house after drinking the potion, since her costume is relatively boring and simple.

Making the House

I used four poster boards to make the house (ceiling, floor and two walls). I covered the walls and floor in removable wallpaper from Spoonflower. I’d been using removable wallpaper in my home so my mind immediately went there for the walls of my “doll house,” and then I found lots of realistic wood patterns on Spoonflower, as well, which was awesome to get it to scale. I scattered a few pieces of dollhouse furniture and some playing cards.
