2024 Interior Decor Trend Predictions
Silver and stainless steel
It’s already popping up everywhere! I think we will be seeing an influx in large statement furniture and kitchens.
An easy way to participate is with cups and goblets! I love these ones from Lazy Jamie.
2. Alternatives to wavy and wiggly shapes
I’m not saying wavy is out, it’s not - organic shapes and waves are all over in nature so it’s somewhat timeless. I do think its’ domination will be challenged by other patterns that are more angular or sharp.
3. Textured walls
I think we’ve finally far enough removed from the faux paint of our mother’s walls for it to make its return. I’m seeing a rise in lime washing and texture in general. Same applies to textured art pieces!
4. Hand painted designs
Sticking with paint tends, this one will stay micro, but I think we will see more hand painted designs. It’s niche and can be hard to execute but I’m personally obsessed. I’m shocked it didn’t explore more in 2020 but I’m seeing it more recently in homes and businesses.
5. Renaissance Revival
Ephemeral, ornate and decadent decor and design is starting to trend. It fits with the above trend of painted ceilings and hand painted details. Think Saltburn, Poor Things - it’s in pop culture and making it’s way into our homes.
While we don’t all have the ornate architecture for it, I think we will see it in little details like tapestries, canopies and art.
5. Mismatched eras
A lot of publications predicted “messy eclectic” or basically just having personal style in design. This is kind of a “duh” moment but it is true that for a while there was a lot of cookie cutter/B&W style decor and we’re actually making our homes reflections of the multi-faceted people we are. My take on this is thinking we will see more picking and choosing from eras rather than having a fully mid-century, farmhouse, modern-only home.
6. More personality in the little things
As we infuse more personality, I think we will see items like faucets and doorknobs and items we’ve forgotten getting their time to shine with more color and eclecticness.
